I´m so super excited about this shawl/scarf/necklace! I can´t wait to use it every day, when I´m cold or just when I wanna feel pretty or something. AND I can´t wait to show it to the world 🙂 because it makes me so happy just to look at it and browse through the photos I have taken of it.
You will only get a tiny sneak peak today…. UNTIL TUESDAY!
And yes my dog really wanted to take part this time!!
Ohh Edda, how can you say that, Tosh is never ugly. I swear we are not on any Tosh percentages people!
I’m almost done! The many things I really love with seamless sweaters is that when you’re done knitting, your done. I am so happy that I decided to knit the bands whilst knitting the cardigan so there is no picking up stitches in the end. Can´t wait to show it to you!! Here is a little sneak peak of the details!
Here is a little sneak peak of the details I was talking about! Sorry no coffee picture today, but me and Edda are meeting some american knitters tonight and are super excited!
LOL, Yes I´m still making a Shawl 🙂 …. I think it´s nothing I could change it to even if I wanted to. And I can totally relate to your words Arndís: “IT´S THE TOSH, I COULDN´T RESIST” no one would!!! (At least no one of the snobby yarn addicts I know)
So here I am with my gorgeously soft wonderfulness. What makes me frustrated though is how ugly it looks without it´s beautiful Lace Edge, (It´s like when I get a haircut, I feel so silly while she is working on my hair and I just want it to be finished!) ok maybe not ugly, but not nearly as beautiful as it is in my head with the lace. And shall we talk about the number of ends I need to weave in…
I promise to be happier next Thursday people… I will have finished weaving in my pretty ends and started the lace 🙂 …
Haha typical Edda love the colors but a black and white shawl it will not be… you are still making a shawl right?
Here you can see my cast on in my favorite knitting chair (I wasn’t kidding when I said my entire wardrobe was black). I really love A-line sweaters where the decreases stops just below the bustline (if your knitting from the bottom up), I find it very flattering for my body type.
But WHY did I think that black would be a good color for a proto type? I´m really afraid the details won’t show as well, but there is no going back now because of my tight deadline. But let’s be honest: First of all I wasn’t thinking. I was just thinking I need a nice cardigan that is perfect for work, not … I need to make it in a color that shows the pattern better. Second it´s the Tosh, I couldn’t resist. Well you live and learn!
Yes Arndis, I like my sketches pretty and colorful. I have to totally see how pretty my design is going to be in the end before I start calculating… when (NOT if) I get bored calculating I just look at how pretty the ugly numbers will turn up and I can keep going.
As you could see on my sketch, it was supposed to be pure black and white (solids not handdied), with a hint of turkish on the edge (it´s hard to see on the sketch)… BUT when I entered the shop OMG all the Madeline Tosh madness….. Here are my black and white solids with a hint of very bright turkish for lace edge!!!
The black and whites (brown and light blue) are Madeline Tosh merino light but the gorgeous one to the right is from Zen Yarn Garden, I´m totally in love with this color combination. And I can also tell you one thing, It´s making me feel sooooo good working with it.
And even better with ice cream!
Well done Edda, a swatch and sketch. I love your sketches, mine are not so pretty! I´m more of a very rough sketch type and lots of calculations type as you can see from the picture (I´m continuing the coffee theme).
Ohh I really am loving how this Madeline Tosh is knitting with moss stitch. Here you can see my swatches.
After a few experiments I think I´ve decided most of the design aspects, seamless and pockets… I’m definitely thinking pockets!
After waiting so long to start… it´s finally here…. My first blog post….. I went to your local yarn store handprjon.is. I went all the way to Hafnarfjörður (I live in Reykjavík) because they stock Madeline Tosh and as you know I´m a total sucker for Madeline Tosh, let´s face it Madeline Tosh is highly addictive!
For this first project I´m thinking the perfect work cardigan that goes with everything and is both comfortable and presentable at the office. Long, open and simple but with a few hidden details to keep things interesting. I’m calling it Þorra Peysa or maybe The Thorra Sweater for you non Icelandic people because of the Þorra season that is upon us. If you don´t know much about Þorri click here. I bought black yarn, because… well… unlike you, my entire wardrobe is black, well.. almost.
Finally it begins! So, how does it work, this project of ours? This photo is our inspirational photo of the first month of The harbour project. It reminds us of our dark January days in Iceland. We intend to design something knitted or crocheted inspired by the photo. You will be able to follow the designing process here, on Instagram and our Facebook page. Tuesdays are Arndis´s and Thursdays are Edda´s, BUT it could be worth your while to hit the refresh button on Sundays. The final products will be revealed the last day of each month. Patterns will follow as soon as possible. Each month a new photo appears on the website.
