I would rather be knitting (volume 3)

Edda, in all my years of knitting I think I´ve never decided half way through a project to wear it upside down!  I can only say… you are braver than most Edda… remember, February is the shortest month of the year.

Work has been even more hectic than I thought it would be.  I have not been able to work on my January pattern at ALL.  BUT I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and soon I will start working on the project… soon.  … OH and my knitting needle broke!

We have a problem the hat/beanie was too small due to a small miscalculation in my swatch but that´s ok because my daughter loves it! She calls it her sleeping hat and didn’t even give me a chance to weave in the ends before using it.  So now we will have matching mother daughter hats, good think I bought two skeins in London!.  I still need a name for the hat/beanie.. I´m thinking “Quick hat for the overworked“… nahh to long. Any suggestions?

Impulsive knitting/crocheting!

Dear Arndís, if you like it (trying it on) then you should, as often as you desire! 🙂 🙂

After picking up the sts for knitting the rest of the cardigan I was soooo excited about it and extremely happy! See how amazingly stunning it looks…. I made a swatch, just in case…. ( although I knew it would be awesome).  Then I started knitting and then  crochet again and BOOOOOOM!

HOW ABOUT UPSIDE DOWN???

I would rather be knitting (volume 2)

Wow that lace is amazing!

Here is what I’m thinking a simple ribbed hat/beanie with a lace detail that slowly moves up the hat/beanie. It took me a long time to find the perfect lace detail but I think I found it! By the way what is the difference between a hat and a beanie. I´m not sure . Edda you should be so proud I made a sketch!! It’s not pretty,  not pretty enough to put on the internet any way,but a sketch non the less.  I love knitting this hat/beanie but there is a slight problem… I can’t help trying it on every other row (which is really slowing down my knitting momentum)!

Ohh Edda, what a beautiful post! I am super excited for your project. What a project. You know that February is the shortest month of the year right?

When I look at that picture I want to take a walk in the snow and for that you need a cozy hat.  Not too thick and you can either have it slouchy or roll it up.  My day job is a bit crazy this month so a quick project is in order.  But just so you know we have a rule that you are not allowed to have many quick projects in a row.

I´m thinking of using my DyeForYarn, fingering merino/silk superwash called “Old Raspberry ice cream” I bought at Loop when I was in London last fall.  Loop is one of those amazing candy stores for knitters. I almost bought £48 limited edition alpaca, silk cashmere blend yarn from a Verb for Keeping Warm but my mum talked me off the ledge.  Here you can see a few pictures from the trip and my spoils from Loop. Unfortunately I’m still writing up the pattern for the Thorra Cardigan  but I’m planning on finishing it for my trusty tech editor by the end of the month.  That´s the plan any way 🙂

February – Winter wonderland

I see a big white cozy cardigan, to cuddle up in, on cold winter nights. Again I made a sketch.  …And I took a trip to Arndís´s local yarn shop 🙂 … Storkurinn.

I have decided the sweater will be crochet lace from top to bottom.  Wide, cozy and cuddly in honor of my late mother in law, who taught me how to crochet when I was 20 years old. See died in November last year. Here are some photos of the lessons which took place at my favorite place in the world.  An old farm called Skárastaðir. The first photo is of my husband and his grandmother who helped with the lessons.

Thank you Unnur and Ása for teaching me this beautiful art form.
