Impulsive knitting/crocheting!

Dear Arndís, if you like it (trying it on) then you should, as often as you desire! 🙂 🙂

After picking up the sts for knitting the rest of the cardigan I was soooo excited about it and extremely happy! See how amazingly stunning it looks…. I made a swatch, just in case…. ( although I knew it would be awesome).  Then I started knitting and then  crochet again and BOOOOOOM!

HOW ABOUT UPSIDE DOWN???

But the name will be Unnur!

I feel so sorry for you my dear Arndís.  Why on earth do we need to have a day job, it´s not fair 🙂 ….. When the worst is over we will take that weekend we´re always talking about, where it´s just you and me, yarn and needles!

Back to my cardigan, I´m a bit worried…. Just lace, all the time, all the way up, can I handle that? Doing the same shit over and over again!

As pretty as it looks, the answer is …………………………… NO!

I made a new swatch with a bit bulky alpaca .. KNITTED .. and as you can see on my new and improved sketch, stripes it is, once again!!!

But the name of the cardigan will be Unnur, that won´t change.

February – Winter wonderland

I see a big white cozy cardigan, to cuddle up in, on cold winter nights. Again I made a sketch.  …And I took a trip to Arndís´s local yarn shop 🙂 … Storkurinn.

I have decided the sweater will be crochet lace from top to bottom.  Wide, cozy and cuddly in honor of my late mother in law, who taught me how to crochet when I was 20 years old. See died in November last year. Here are some photos of the lessons which took place at my favorite place in the world.  An old farm called Skárastaðir. The first photo is of my husband and his grandmother who helped with the lessons.

Thank you Unnur and Ása for teaching me this beautiful art form.

First month down….

finally! It is so fitting that we can celebrate Edda´s birthday on the day of our first reveal!

Ok ok we will show you the final outcome too. We tricked Arndís´s good friend Vaka to show up at our studio in Íshús Hafnarfjarðar for our very first photoshoot.  We, of course paid her with the best coffee money can buy, here at Pallett (next to our studio), where we intend to celebrate our first launch and Edda´s birthday as soon as Arndís recovers from the flu.

So here you go

Thorra sweater and Lazy Stripes

It´s almost time!

I´m so super excited about this shawl/scarf/necklace! I can´t wait to use it every day, when I´m cold or just when I wanna feel pretty or something.  AND I can´t wait to show it to the world 🙂 because it makes me so happy just to look at it and browse through the photos I have taken of it.

You will only get a tiny sneak peak today…. UNTIL TUESDAY!

And yes my dog really wanted to take part this time!!

SEEYA…

Patience is a wirtue

LOL, Yes I´m still making a Shawl 🙂 …. I think it´s nothing I could change it to even if I wanted to.  And I can totally relate to your words Arndís: “IT´S THE TOSH, I COULDN´T RESIST” no one would!!! (At least no one of the snobby yarn addicts I know)

So here I am with my gorgeously soft wonderfulness.  What makes me frustrated though is how ugly it looks without it´s beautiful Lace Edge, (It´s like when I get a haircut, I feel so silly while she is working on my hair and I just want it to be finished!) ok maybe not ugly, but not nearly as beautiful as it is in my head with the lace.  And shall we talk about the number of ends I need to weave in…

I promise to be happier next Thursday people… I will have finished weaving in my pretty ends and started the lace 🙂 …

Lazy Stripes

Yes Arndis, I like my sketches pretty and colorful. I have to totally see how pretty my design is going to be in the end before I start calculating… when (NOT if) I get bored calculating I just look at how pretty the ugly numbers will turn up and I can keep going.

As you could  see on my sketch, it was supposed to be pure black and white (solids not handdied), with a hint of turkish on the edge (it´s hard to see on the sketch)… BUT when I entered the shop OMG all the Madeline Tosh madness….. Here are my black and white solids with a hint of very bright turkish for lace edge!!!yarnforweb

The black and whites (brown and light blue) are Madeline Tosh merino light but the gorgeous one to the right is from Zen Yarn Garden, I´m totally in love with this color combination.  And I can also tell you one thing, It´s making me feel sooooo good working with it.

And even better with ice cream!
